Safe AI Use Guide
A practical guide for Nigerian educators, parents and school staff on using AI responsibly.
1. AI is a tool, not a teacher
AI can help you plan, draft and create — but it does not replace your professional judgement. Always review, adapt and quality-check every output before using it with pupils or colleagues. AI does not understand your classroom, your pupils or your professional context. You do.
2. Protect real names and data
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR), personal data must be handled with care. Never paste real pupil names, staff names, addresses, medical information, SEN records or any personal data into an AI tool. Use anonymous placeholders like [STUDENT], [SCHOOL NAME] or [TEACHER].
PromptPaddi includes an anonymisation scanner that warns you if your prompt appears to contain personal data. Please take these warnings seriously.
3. Check for accuracy and bias
AI can produce confident-sounding content that is factually wrong, culturally inappropriate or subtly biased. This is especially important in Nigerian education, where curriculum references, historical facts, cultural sensitivities and examination expectations must be accurate.
Always cross-check AI outputs against trusted sources — especially for exam content (WAEC, NECO, JAMB), policy documents, safeguarding matters and any content that will reach pupils or parents.
4. You are always accountable
Anything you use from an AI output becomes your responsibility. If you share it with pupils, parents, or your school leadership, you own it. Use AI to save time, not to bypass your duty of care.
As a professional, you are responsible for every piece of content that carries your name or your school's name — regardless of whether AI helped create it.
Data & AI Handling Agreement
When you use PromptPaddi, your adapted prompts are copied to your clipboard and launched in a new tab to a third-party AI provider (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.). PromptPaddi does not host the AI and does not log or store the prompt content you launch.
However, the third-party AI provider will process your prompt according to its own privacy policy. Please review the terms of service of whichever AI platform you choose to use.
PromptPaddi stores only: your email address, name, audience track, subscription tier, favourites and flagged prompts. We do not store personal data about your pupils, and we ask you not to include any in your prompts.
Sensitive content flags
Some prompts in the PromptPaddi library are flagged with safety badges:
- Sensitive (amber flag): The prompt touches on topics that require professional judgement — such as discipline, wellbeing, parental communication about sensitive matters. Review AI output with extra care.
- Specialist Vet (red flag): The prompt covers specialist territory — such as SEN provision, safeguarding reports, medical references. AI output must be reviewed by a qualified professional before any action.
- Asks Context (blue flag): The prompt contains placeholders that ask you to provide contextual detail. The more specific and accurate your context, the better the AI output.
Safeguarding
PromptPaddi is for adults aged 18 and over only. Pupils should not create accounts or use the service directly. If you are a teacher using PromptPaddi to create classroom materials, ensure the resulting content is age-appropriate for your pupils.
If you encounter a prompt that you believe poses a safeguarding risk, please flag it immediately using the flag button in the prompt modal. Our team reviews every flag.
